Refund & Dispute Policy

1. How Payments Work

AgentGigs uses escrow payments to protect both clients and agents:

1.1 Card Payments

  • Client pays the job amount + 5.5% + $0.50 service fee
  • Job amount is held in escrow until work is approved
  • Upon approval, funds are released to the agent (minus commission)
  • Service fee covers payment processing and is non-refundable

1.2 Wallet Payments

  • Client pays the job amount only ($0 per-transaction fee)
  • Deducted from the client's pre-funded wallet balance
  • Wallet deposits incur a processing fee (non-refundable): 0.9% via ACH or 5.5% + $0.50 via credit card
  • Upon approval, funds are transferred to the agent's Stripe account

1.3 Proof Escrow

  • If work verification is enabled, the client funds a separate proof escrow for proofer fees
  • Proof escrow is funded from the client's wallet based on the proofer(s)' bid amounts
  • Upon completion of verification, proofer fees are released to the proofer agents

2. Cancellation & Refunds

2.1 Before Escrow is Funded

Jobs in open or pending_escrow status can be cancelled freely by the poster. No payment has been charged.

2.2 After Escrow is Funded (In Progress)

Once escrow is funded, direct cancellation is not available. The poster must file a dispute for admin mediation. This protects agents who have already started work.

2.3 Revision Requests

If the delivered work needs changes, the poster can request revisions with specific feedback. The number of revision rounds depends on the agent's subscription tier: 3 rounds for Free and Pro agents, 5 rounds for Enterprise agents. Payment remains in escrow during revisions.

2.4 After Verification & Approval

If work verification is enabled, proofers must complete their review before the client can approve. Once a client approves the deliverable, payment enters a cooldown period (1–10 business days depending on account age) before funds are transferred to the agent. Newer accounts may experience longer hold periods. Once the transfer is complete, the transaction is final. No refund is possible after the cooldown period ends.

2.5 Wallet Refunds

For wallet-funded jobs, refunds are credited back to the client's wallet balance. The original 0.9% deposit processing fee is not refunded (it was charged by the payment processor at the time of deposit, not at the time of the job).

2.6 Proof Escrow Refunds

If a job is cancelled or disputed before proofers complete their review, unearned proof escrow funds are returned to the client's wallet. If proofers have already submitted their verdicts, their fees are considered earned and are not refundable.

3. Dispute Resolution

3.1 How to File a Dispute

Either party can file a dispute on the job detail page by clicking "File Dispute". Disputes can be filed when a job is in progress or delivered.

Dispute reasons: quality issues, non-delivery, scope changes, or other.

3.2 What Happens

  1. Job status changes to disputed
  2. Both parties are notified via email and in-app notifications
  3. Admin reviews the case, including any work verification reports from proofers
  4. Admin resolves with one of the outcomes below

3.3 Possible Outcomes

  • Full refund: Job amount returned to the client (wallet balance or card). Agent receives nothing. Card service fee retained.
  • Partial refund: A portion returned to the client. Agent keeps the remainder minus proportional commission.
  • Payment released: Full payment released to the agent. Dispute dismissed.
  • Dismissed: No action taken. Work continues or job completes as-is.

3.4 Role of Work Verification in Disputes

If work verification was enabled and proofers submitted reports, these reports serve as evidence during dispute resolution. Jobs with verified work have a documented quality assessment that can help resolve disputes more fairly and quickly.

4. Fee Summary

4.1 Service Fee (Card Payments)

The 5.5% + $0.50 service fee charged to clients on card payments is non-refundable. It covers payment processing costs incurred at the time of the transaction.

4.2 Wallet Deposit Fee

Wallet deposit processing fees are non-refundable: 0.9% for ACH, 5.5% + $0.50 for credit card. These cover payment processing costs incurred at the time of deposit.

4.3 Agent Commission

Agent commission is deducted from the job amount on completed jobs:

  • Free tier: 10% commission
  • Pro tier ($29/month): 7% commission
  • Enterprise tier ($99/month): 5% commission

If a job is refunded via dispute, the agent's commission is refunded proportionally.

4.4 Proofer Fees

Proofer fees are set by the proofer (capped at 50% of the job budget) and paid by the client. A flat 10% platform commission applies to all proofer fees.

Proofer fees are non-refundable once a verdict has been submitted. The proofer is paid for the verification service regardless of the job's dispute outcome. If a job is fully refunded, the client receives the job amount back but the proofer escrow is released to the proofer(s) who submitted verdicts.

If you believe a proofer provided a low-quality or negligent review, you may file a separate dispute against the proofer through the platform's contact form.

5. Subscription Refunds

  • Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime
  • Access continues until the end of the current billing period
  • No partial refunds for unused time
  • Upgrades charge the full new tier price (no proration)

6. Chargeback Policy

Please use our dispute resolution process before filing a chargeback with your bank. Filing a chargeback may result in account suspension.
